MySpace Address: Look me up under "Layna Broussard" Facebook Address: Look me up under "Layna Ladner Broussard" Occupation: Lead Clinical Dietitian Bio: Well...since the first reunion in 2005....Kirk and I did get married (we were engaged at that time) on December 16, 2006. He spent from November 2005 until November 2006 working in Iraq with KBR and when he Finally came home for good...we got married. We had a Victorian Christmas Wedding and it was beautiful. Our son Ayden Lane was born on January 15, 2008, he was delivered by emergency c-section 2 weeks early. I developed a life-threatening illness during my pregnancy- Acute Fatty Liver of Pregnancy- which is very rare and occurs in 1 in 15,000 women (and I got it...had to be me.) My later days of pregnancy before he was born we're very scary...The weekend before his emergency delivery I vomited for 4 days straight and lost 11 pounds, I was severely dehydrated and so was he, and I was in liver failure along with kidney failure. The only solution to stop the disease progression before it killed me (and most likey him, too) was emergency delivery...I had no choice...and I thank God daily that he was only 2 weeks early instead of 2 months. We both spent several days in the ICU...He in the NICU...and we both we extremely ill. I was put on a morphine pump and have very few memories of his first days of life...I only have one memory...they brought him into the ICU still hooked up to oxyden and his IV in the top of his head...and I held him for a few minutes. That's it...no other memories. Kirk says that when I saw him I introduced myself to him as "Hello Ayden...I'm Layna and I'm your mommy and I love you so much!" Cute huh...and formal! After days of morphine and clawing my face up because of the "morphine itch," they finally changed my pain meds to dilaudid...and I was more coherant and got to really LOVE on my son!!! He recovered very quickly...while I took months and months to recover (and have normal liver function tests.) I still have to have my liver labs run at my check-ups. I was told by my liver specialist before our discharge that I was a "text-book case", a "miracle"....if I had waited one more day before coming in to my doctor for the vomiting...I would have been dead, and Ayden may have been as well. I can not have any more children...but I am super blessed with one heroic and brave Little Man who is THE LIFE OF MY LIFE! I am also blessed with two wonderful step-children! And through it all...Kirk was right by my side...right there to keep me strong and to love me and our son! I Thank God for saving my son's life...and for sparing mine so that I am able to be a part of his life and to see him grow up! PLEASE Believe in Miracles, because WE are PROOF of God's Love! I miss home and am looking forward to moving back.. we will probably never be back in BC but atleast want to be back in Texas one day... I miss family and friends. We are still trying to learn Spanish.. its so tough... wish I would have listened better in Mrs. Garcia's class...We will probably be here for another 1.5 years.. I'm seeing a great guy that I met in school. It's a new relationship so no talk of marriage or anything like that. I hope to get married some day and have a few kids, but I'm being patient for now. He's got an eight year old daughter that keeps us entertained. Not much else is going on...just work and sleep! I try to go scuba diving when I get the chance but you can only dive so much in the nasty lake. I just enjoy hanging out with my friends, going to concerts and just taking it easy. (does that count? :) Occupation: Biologist Bio: After HS graduation I went to college at Texas A&M University at Galveston, on Galveston Island. After 4 years there I received a B.S. in Marine Biology (in 2000). I then continued to get my Masters degree. In 2002, I received a Masters of Marine Resource Management. In January of 2004 I left Texas for an extended road trip which lead to my final destination of Seattle, WA. I got a job with an environmental consulting firm called Ecology and Environment, Inc. (after a month or so of looking for work in Washington). My title here is "Biologist." What else does one include in a bio? Hobbies? Well, I love to travel and have been many places including countries in Europe, South America, and the Caribbean. I enjoy hiking, scuba diving, reading, and making scrapbooks/homemade cards. I just finished up my internal medicine chief resident year at UT-Houston, and will start a two year fellowship in Endocrinology in July 08. Steve is working as a Medical Technologist at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He's also an EMT as a hobby, but hasn't had much time for that since Carter was born. I graduated Lamar in 2000 and worked in the Beaumont Area till 2/2006, then me and my wife packed up and moved out west (Kristie is from the Tucson area)! I'm working as a civil engineer out here in good ole Arizona. The climate is much better than BC! Hot summers, but zero humidity! The winters are great! We stay pretty active and we can hunt, fish, camp, hike, and bike all year round. We miss the green grass of SE Texas, but we are home. If you're ever out in the Tucson area look me up! He is still in the US Air Force, so we live where they put us! For the past year we were stationed at Eglin AFB, near Destin, FL. We just arrived at our new duty station Keflavik, Iceland where we will be for at least 2 years. We are EXTREMELY excited about being here and are looking forward to the opportunity to take advantage of the Scandinavian culture! Of course, my goals include working on my Masters, learning Icelandic, and touring Mainland Europe! We still have not had any kidos but plan to once we get back to the states someday! I've been living in Sugar Land, TX for about 3 years now aspiring to be yet another writer. I am about to celebrate my 1 yr. wedding anniversary with my wonderfully crazy husband Gerald, a C.R.N.A. at Texas Women's Hospital in Houston. I stay at home keeping our version of the "Brady Bunch" organized. We have my 2 boys: Brenden Chase, 5 (who acts just like me, need I say more) and Maxwell Joseph, 3 (he has a way with the ladies). We also have my two beautiful step babies: Lindsey Alicia, 9 (not allowed to date until she is married) and Marcus Anthony, 8 (lives up to his name in all angles). Yes, they all live with us in our suburbia home that never has a dull moment.
