Ashley got out of the military and took a civilian job that required us to move to Dalhart for training. I had never spent any time in that part of Texas. It was different, to say the least. She decided that the job was not going to work out, so she took a new job that she is training for now in Salt Lake City. I just thought Dalhart was different. Whoa! It is beautiful here, but any place that has cold temps and snow in May is not the place for me. We will move again in less than a year to a state yet to be determined until Ashley finishes her training here. There is a chance it will be Ft Worth or San Antonio, but unfortunately, a much better chance that it won't be. I have been substitute teaching here. I don't feel the need to elaborate. All I'll say is I'm ecstatic that school is almost out. We are excited for the upcoming birth of our second child around June 20. It is a girl who we have named Briley. Last year, I almost gave it all up for the "R" word, but was convinced to stay on with the Bank in a new capacity. Still have the option of retiring, but need to decide what I really want to do when I grow up before I launch into the second career. Over the past couple of years, I've been very fortunate in having been able to travel to Italy, Greece, Brazil, the Domincan Republic, Puerto Rico, and most recently, a couple of weeks in Hawaii. It's great to be with someone who has an international marketing job, the stressful part is planning the next vacation around those business trips. A little of the European culture has rubbed off as we recently bought a Mini Cooper convertible. A welcome addition to the family....and lots of fun to drive. I was hoping to catch up with some of you this year. I still connect with BC often as my Mom and step siblings of Heberts are all in the area, with all the Cajun food and music. We have a little land and horses, so I like to joke and say "I'm just living the cowboy way". I've determined I must be old because I really enjoy getting on the tractor and moving dirt and stuff. I am still in music, still ride motorcycles and still enjoy boats and skiing. Our oldest, the girl, graduated in 2004, the next one is a senior (05/06), plays a lot of sports and plays guitar and writes songs better than I have ever thought about writing. Occasionally we get to perform together, which is pretty fulfilling. The youngest is a freshman, is the brain of the bunch and is pretty accomplished in sports as well. I spent a lot of my time in England with my English bride of over 24 years. I have been to England, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, France plus 6 or 7 other countries and over 35 states. I am now happily retired; living in the Historic District of San Marcos and commute to Austin daily working for Ascension Health out of St Louis. My son graduated from the University of Texas in 2005 as an Aerospace Engineer and is now working on his post graduate studies at MIT. We spend a lot of time traveling, enjoy the theater, sporting events, (I discovered Spring Training Baseball in Florida in 2005) and are on the go most weekends. I am mostly homebound but recently got my power wheelchair so it's easier for me to get out and about now. Eric and his lovely wife Brenda are expecting their first child and my 2nd grandchild at the end of August 2011. Stacie and her wonderful husband are the proud parents of my 1st grandchild, a beautiful and brilliant little boy, Malachi who will be 3 on August 5, 2011. At least they are making it easy on Nana remembering birthdays! Brittany is still single and is busy finishing up college, she will be through by December, if not earlier. I still have my hairy 4-legged kids, my longhaired miniature dachshunds, Rufus and Cami. After my 4 spine surgeries, I sold all of my horses except for one, my thoroughbred that hates to run. Anyone can ride him, he's a big teddy bear. Also sold my motorcycle, but am looking seriously for a trike so I can still ride. Catch me on FB, that's usually where I am. I am a member of the Cowboy Church of Orange County, would love for anyone in the area or just in for a visit, come as you are, no need to dress up, jeans and t'shirts are fine, sensible shorts are welcome in the summertime. We've been very busy the last few months rebuilding the entire front of our house due to Hurricane Rita, and I am sooooo very thankful to be about done. If you are out of the area, you missed a real eye opener!! It was something I've never seen and pray never to see again. The family all evacuated, got separated, and I was sure I'd have to miss the birth of my newest granddaughter.
