Bridge City High School Alumni Update

Richard Briggs, BCHS principal and a former graduate, has many wonderful plans to pay tribute to 50+ years of Bridge City High School and the many students that walked through its halls. His vision is to make any former students feel "at home" when walking through the doors of BCHS. This is by no way going to be an easy task or one that will be accomplished quickly. Thus, our alumni group is proud to help the BC staff complete one of their "Traditions" projects.

Our Bridge City High School Alumni Association is donating $1800 toward the purchase of a 24"x30" bronze plaque honoring all former BC graduates that served/serves in the United States Military. The plaque will be placed near the library in the round, main foyer of the building. All branches of the military will be acknowledged, and special tribute to fallen soldiers will be included.

Future projects will highlight "lives and times of BCHS" throughout the years, Mr. & Miss BCHS receipants, valedictorian and salutitorians, state academic winners, extra-curricular accomplishments, etc. The goal is to display the many aspects of BCHS that touched so many of us.

Homecoming 2010 is affording us a time to again reflect on life at BC in the past. Spirit groups (cheerleaders, Cardinal Guard members, mascots, flagrunners, tunnel crew members, etc.), graduates of 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, and 2000 will be honored with a special reception prior to the Homecoming 2010 football game. Of course, all graduates of 50+ years will certainly be included in the festivities. Homecoming is Friday, September 24. Please plan to attend. (A reunion of all 50+ members and anyone else wishing to attend will be held on Saturday, September 25th at the BCHS cafeteria. Those intersted in attending may contact Raylene Terrell at auntray@gt.rr.com.)

Also, included in this year's Homecoming 2010 is the "Burning of the Letters" which will be held Monday, September 20 at 7:00pm at Larry Ward Stadium. At that time, two distinguished alumni that have served our community throughout the years will be recognized.

We hope that you will the the opportunity to visit BC during Homecoming 2010.
