Larry Lawson, BCHS Class of 1963 and his band The Clique along with The Beat Daddys and Edgar Winter were honored at The Carl Parker Multipurpose Center on the campus of Lamar Pt Arthur Jan 19th.

WORSTER INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME

BC Alum & Texas Longhorn great Steve Worster has been selected as one of the newest members of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco. He joins an impressive list of inductees, including Astros first baseman Lance Berkman, former University of Texas football star and Philadelphia Eagles DB Bill Bradley, former Dallas Cowboys LB Lee Roy Jordan, former University of Texas men’s basketball coach Abe Lemons (deceased), former NASL soccer star Kyle Rote Jr., TCU & San Diego Charger RB LaDainian Tomlinson, and former University of Texas women’s basketball star Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil. Worster gained 5,422 rushing yards in his high school career at Bridge City including 2,210 as a senior in carrying the Cardinals to the Class 3A state title. He was at his best in the 1966 state final, racking up 249 yards (a title-game record at the time) as Bridge City romped over unbeaten McKinney, 30-6. Worster graduated as a three-time All-District and All-State pick, and also earned All-American honors as a senior. The focal point of UT’s wishbone offense, Worster rushed for 2,353 yards and 36 touchdowns as Texas won 30 consecutive games and a pair of national titles between 1968-70.
